Sandwich Stack

Method

Assemble & Finish

1

Prepare ingredients

If bacon is not already cooked, cook 3 bacon strips in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, about 6–8 minutes, turning once; transfer to paper towel to drain. Wash and dry lettuce leaves. Slice tomato into 2 even slices and season lightly with a pinch of salt and pepper.

2

Toast bread (optional)

If you prefer a toasted club, lightly butter one side of each bread slice (about 1 tsp total) and toast in a skillet or toaster oven until golden and lightly crisp, about 1–2 minutes per side in a skillet or 3–4 minutes in a toaster oven.

3

Spread mayo

Spread about 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise evenly on one side of the bottom slice of bread and about 1 tablespoon on one side of the top slice (or on the two outer sides if using three-slice stack).

4

Build first layer

Place the bottom bread slice mayo-side up. Layer 3 slices of turkey evenly across the bread, then place one slice of Swiss cheese on top of the turkey.

5

Add middle bread and second layer

Place the middle slice of bread mayo-side down on the Swiss. On the exposed top of the middle slice, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise (about 1/2 tbs if desired). Layer 4 slices of ham evenly, then top the ham with the American cheese slice.

6

Top with bacon, lettuce, and tomato

Place the crisped bacon strips on top of the American cheese. Add the washed lettuce leaves, then the seasoned tomato slices.

7

Finish sandwich

Place the final bread slice mayo-side down (mayo against the tomato). Press the stack gently to compact it, then, if desired, insert toothpicks to hold layers. Using a sharp knife, cut the sandwich diagonally into two triangles or in half, depending on presentation.

8

Serve

Serve immediately while bacon is warm and bread is crisp. Optionally accompany with pickles, potato chips, or a side salad.
