Sandwich
Method
Sandwich
Prepare the bacon
Cook the bacon until crispy. For stovetop: place bacon in a cold skillet in a single layer, turn heat to medium, and cook 3–5 minutes per side until crisp. For oven: arrange on a rimmed baking sheet and bake at 200°C (400°F) for 12–18 minutes until crisp. Drain cooked bacon on paper towels and set aside.
Slice the tomato and season
Slice the half tomato into 2–4 even slices (depending on tomato size). Sprinkle the tomato slices with the 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper to enhance flavor.
Assemble the sandwich
Spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise evenly over one side of a bread slice. Place the cheese slice on top of the mayo. Layer the lettuce leaves over the cheese, then arrange the 4 bacon slices in a single overlapping layer. Add the seasoned tomato slices on top of the bacon. Spread mayonnaise on the second slice of bread (optional) and place mayo-side down on the tomato to close the sandwich.
Finish and serve
Press the sandwich gently, cut diagonally if desired, and serve immediately while bacon is warm and bread is crisp.
