Start by gathering all your ingredients and equipment. Sanitize all brewing equipment before starting.

Preparation of Ingredients

Heat 4 gallons of water to about 160°F (71°C). Add the wheat and pale malt, maintaining a temperature of around 152°F (67°C) for 60 minutes.

Mashing

After mashing, sparge with enough water to collect about 6 gallons of wort in your brew kettle.

Sparging

Bring the wort to a boil. Add Cascade hops and boil for 60 minutes. Add Saaz hops with 15 minutes left in the boil.

Boiling

Cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath to around 70°F (21°C).

Cooling

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Add the Belgian yeast, orange peel, and crushed coriander. Seal the vessel and allow fermentation to occur for 1-2 weeks.

Fermentation

Once fermentation is complete, siphon the beer into sanitized bottles, adding priming sugar if desired. Cap the bottles and let them condition for another 1-2 weeks.

Once conditioned, chill your beer and enjoy your homemade Shocktop!
