Method

Cocktail

1

Combine and stir

Add 2 oz Maker's Mark, 0.5 oz Disaronno amaretto and 0.25 oz Golden Lamb maple syrup into a mixing glass or shaker without ice. Add 2 dashes of Peychaud's bitters.

2

Chill and dilute

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice. Using a bar spoon, stir briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full turns) until the drink is well chilled and properly diluted, and the glass is cold to the touch.

3

Prepare glass

Place a large clear ice cube into a chilled old fashioned or rocks glass.

4

Strain and finish

Double-strain (or fine-strain if desired) the stirred cocktail over the large ice cube in the prepared glass to remove any small shards of ice.

5

Express and garnish

Hold the orange peel over the glass and give it a firm twist to express the oils across the surface of the cocktail, then rub the rim of the glass with the peel and drop it in (or discard if you prefer). Add one Luxardo cherry on a pick and place it on top or to the side of the ice.
