1

Build and stir

Place a large old-fashioned glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice to chill, then discard the chilling ice. Add the demerara simple syrup (0.25 oz) to the chilled glass. Add 2 dashes of Boardroom bitters. Pour 2 oz of bourbon into the glass.

2

Add ice and stir

Add a large ice cube (or enough regular ice to fill the glass). Stir gently with a bar spoon for about 20–30 seconds (15–25 full revolutions) until the drink is well chilled and slightly diluted.

3

Garnish and serve

Express the oils from one orange peel over the surface of the drink by holding the peel skin-side down above the glass and giving it a quick snap to release the oils. Rub the peel around the rim of the glass, then drop it into the drink as a garnish. Serve immediately.
