Donut Ingredients

Method

Donut Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

  2. 2

    Shape the Donuts

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Use a donut cutter or two round cutters to cut out donut shapes. Place the donuts on a floured tray.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature.

  4. 4

    Fry the Donuts

Carefully place the donuts into the hot oil, frying a few at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain.

  5. 5

    Fill the Donuts

Once the donuts have cooled slightly, use a piping bag to fill them with Nutella or dulce de leche.

  6. 6

    Serve

Dust the filled donuts with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm.
