Method
Cocktail
Chill glass
Place a martini/coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink stays cold.
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add Absolut Pears vodka (2 oz), elderflower liqueur (0.5 oz), Nigori unfiltered sake (0.75 oz), simple syrup (0.5 oz), and fresh lemon juice (0.5 oz).
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 6 cubes). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the mixture is well-chilled and slightly frothy from the nigori sake.
Double strain and serve
Using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or just a fine strainer), double-strain the shaken cocktail into the chilled martini/coupe glass to remove small ice shards and any sake sediment for a silky texture.
Garnish & Finish
Garnish the martini with a thin slice of Asian pear on the rim or floated on top. Optionally express a lemon twist over the drink and discard or drop it in for extra aroma.
Serve immediately while cold. Recommend pairing with light appetizers or as an elegant aperitif.
