Seafood and Marinara Sauce

Method

Preparation and Cooking

1

Sauté the Base

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion, red bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

2

Make the Marinara Sauce

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and fish stock. Add white wine, bay leaves, and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

3

Add Seafood

Add the Dungeness crab clusters, mussels, clams, scallops, and shrimp to the pot. Cover and cook for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the seafood is cooked through and the mussels and clams have opened.

4

Garnish and Serve

Remove bay leaves, adjust seasoning if needed, and ladle the cioppino into bowls. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
