Directions
Prepare the Chicken
If using pre-cooked smoked chicken, skip to the next step. If smoking your own chicken, season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper, then smoke them at 250°F (121°C) for about 1.5 to 2 hours until fully cooked and tender.
Prepare the Vegetables
Wash and dry the romaine lettuce. Slice the tomato into thin rounds.
Assemble the Sandwich
Cut the hamburger buns in half. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Place a smoked chicken breast on each bun, followed by a handful of romaine lettuce and a slice or two of tomato. Drizzle barbecue sauce over the top if desired. Place the top half of the bun on each sandwich.
Serve
Serve the smoked chicken sandwiches immediately with your choice of sides.
