Method

Single pour (per serving)

1

Select the expression

Choose which Scotch from the listed options you’ll serve: Dewar’s White Label (everyday value), Johnnie Walker Black Label (smokier, richer), or Johnnie Walker Blue Label (luxury, very smooth). Only pour one expression per serving.

2

Chill glass (optional)

If desired, place the serving glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water for 1–2 minutes to lightly chill. Dump out water and pat dry before pouring.

3

Add ice (optional)

If serving on the rocks, place a single large ice cube in the chilled glass. The large cube melts slowly and chills without diluting quickly.

4

Measure and pour

Using a jigger or pour spout, measure 1 oz of the selected Scotch and pour it into the glass over the ice cube (or neat if no ice).

5

Water to taste (optional)

If you or your guest prefer the aroma and flavors to open up, add 1–3 teaspoons of plain water to the Scotch and gently stir once. Add water sparingly and taste after each addition.

6

Garnish (optional)

If desired, express an oil of citrus over the surface by holding a peel over the glass and giving it a quick twist, then drop it in or discard. This is optional and best with lighter blended expressions.

7

Serve

Present the glass on a coaster or small napkin. Suggest tasting neat first, then with water or ice to experience how the flavors change.

Upgrading to JW Black or JW Blue (notes)

8

If serving Johnnie Walker Black Label, use the same steps above but emphasize tasting neat first to appreciate smoky, malty and vanilla notes. For Johnnie Walker Blue Label, serve neat or with a single drop of water to fully appreciate the delicate, complex finish. Adjust ice and water preferences according to guest taste.
