Cocktail Base
Top & Fizz
Garnish & Fun
Optional Hibiscus Grenadine (makes ~6 oz)
Optional Blue Curaçao Syrup (makes ~4 oz)
Method
Prepare Syrups (can be done ahead)
Hibiscus Grenadine (if making)
Combine 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers and 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer for 8 minutes, then remove from heat and steep 10 minutes. Strain out solids, return liquid to saucepan, add 1 cup sugar and stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice, cool to room temperature and store in the refrigerator. Yields about 6 oz.
Blue Curaçao Syrup (if making)
In a small saucepan combine 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar. Heat gently, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon blue curaçao liqueur (or a few drops blue food coloring plus a splash of orange extract if you want non-alcoholic flavor). Cool completely before using. Yields about 4 oz.
Build the Cocktail
Fill a large wine glass or Collins glass with ice (about 1 cup).
If you prefer a slightly lighter mouthfeel, stir mixture for 10–12 seconds to chill and dilute slightly. If you prefer a more aerated, colder drink, shake hard for 6–8 seconds and then strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
Top gently with 3 oz chilled Prosecco, followed by 1 oz lemonade and 1 oz Sprite. Pour the Prosecco first slowly to preserve bubbles, then add lemonade and Sprite to create a layered, effervescent top.
Observe color layering: the blue curaçao syrup is concentrated—if desired, spoon the blue syrup along the inside of the glass near the top to create a subtle blue upper layer (optional). The hibiscus grenadine will sit lower, creating a pink-to-orange gradient reminiscent of a spring shower sunrise.
Garnish with one orange twist expressed over the drink (twist to release oils) and drop an Airhead candy strip on the rim or gently float a small torn piece on top for a playful, sweet accent.
Serve immediately with a straw or cocktail pick. Encourage the guest to stir lightly before drinking to blend flavors, or sip as layered for visual effect.
