Method
Preparing the Brownies
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Melt Butter
In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Mix Sugars and Eggs
Stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar until well combined. Add 4 large eggs and 2 tsp of vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1 tsp of salt.
Combine Mixtures
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.
Bake the Brownies
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cool the Brownies
Remove from oven and allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
Assembling the Sundae
Prepare the Brownies
Once the brownies are completely cooled, cut them into squares.
Layer the Sundae
In a serving dish, place a square of brownie at the bottom. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Add Toppings
Drizzle 1/4 cup of chocolate sauce over the ice cream, followed by a dollop of whipped cream.
Finish with Nuts and Cherries
Sprinkle chopped nuts over the whipped cream and top with a maraschino cherry.
Serve
Repeat the layering for additional servings, if desired, and enjoy your delicious brownie sundae!
