Cocktail Base
Chill glass
Place a highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water to chill while preparing ingredients.
Combine spirits and sweetener
In a mixing glass or shaker without ice, pour 2 oz Suntory -196 Vodka, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice and 0.25 oz simple syrup. Stir gently to combine. (No aggressive shaking to preserve clarity and delicate effervescence.)
Add ice to serving glass
Discard ice water from the chilled glass (if used) and fill the highball glass with large clear ice cubes or a scoop of crushed ice to near the top.
Build the drink
Strain the vodka-lime mixture over the ice in the serving glass. Slowly top with 4 oz chilled premium soda water to preserve carbonation. Give one gentle stir (about 3 slow turns) with a bar spoon to combine—avoid vigorous stirring.
Garnish & Finish
Garnish
Express a lime wheel over the drink by squeezing it gently between your fingers to release oils, then rub the rim with the wheel and drop it into the glass. Add a mint sprig lightly slapped between your palms (optional) for aromatics. For a refined touch, float a dehydrated citrus wheel on top.
Serve immediately with a short straw. Recommend tasting note: bright citrus, crisp vodka character, light sweetness, and lively effervescence.
