Method
Blackberry Sour Directions
- 1
Muddle Blackberries
In a cocktail shaker, add 6 fresh blackberries. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down on the blackberries to release their juices and flavors. Muddle until the berries are mostly crushed but not completely pureed.
- 2
Add Liquids
To the muddled blackberries, pour in 2 oz of bourbon, 1 oz of fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 oz of agave syrup. The agave syrup will add sweetness to balance the tartness of the lemon juice.
- 3
Add Ice
Fill the cocktail shaker with 1 cup of ice. This will chill the mixture as you shake it.
- 4
Shake
Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This will ensure all the ingredients are well mixed and chilled.
- 5
Strain and Serve
Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass to remove the blackberry seeds and any pulp. This will give you a smooth drink.
- 6
Garnish
Garnish the drink with a lemon wedge on the rim of the glass and 2 fresh blackberries dropped into the drink for a decorative touch.
