Salad Base

Fried Cheese

Method

Preparation of Salad Base

1

Chop the Vegetables

Dice the cherry tomatoes and red onion into small pieces. Place them in a large mixing bowl.

2

Add Basil and Dressing

Tear the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl. Drizzle the olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the vegetables. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

3

Mix the Salad

Gently toss all the ingredients together until well combined. Set aside to allow the flavors to meld.

Frying the Cheese

4

Prepare the Cheese

Cut the brie cheese into small wedges or rounds, about 1-inch thick.

5

Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place the all-purpose flour, beaten egg, and breadcrumbs. Dredge each piece of brie first in flour, then dip in the egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.

6

Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

7

Fry the Cheese

Carefully place the breaded brie wedges into the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

8

Drain and Cool

Remove the fried cheese from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Let cool for a few minutes.

Assembly

9

Plate the Salad

On a serving platter, arrange the salad base in the center.

10

Top with Fried Cheese

Place the fried brie wedges on top of the salad just before serving.

11

Serve Immediately

Serve the salad immediately while the cheese is still warm and gooey.
