Method
Brewed Coffee
Heat water
Bring fresh water to a boil and then let it sit for about 30 seconds so the temperature drops to roughly 94°C (200°F). You need about 12 oz (approximately 355 ml) for 2 tablespoons of coffee.
Prepare coffee
Place 2 tablespoons of medium-ground coffee into your chosen brewer: a drip cone, pour-over, Aeropress, or French press. Use freshly roasted beans ground just before brewing when possible.
Bloom (for pour-over or drip cone)
Pour just enough hot water (about twice the weight of coffee; ~40–50 ml) to wet the grounds evenly and let it sit for 30–45 seconds. This releases trapped gases and improves extraction.
Brew
Slowly pour the remaining hot water over the grounds in a circular motion if using pour-over. If using a French press, pour all hot water, stir gently, place the lid with plunger up and let steep for 3:30–4 minutes before pressing. For Aeropress follow manufacturer timing (usually ~1–2 minutes before pressing). For automatic drip follow the machine's cycle.
Serve
Once brewed, immediately transfer coffee to your cup to avoid over-extraction or bitterness from staying on the grounds. You should have roughly 10–12 oz of brewed coffee.
