Venison Steak

Method

Prepare the Prickly Pear BBQ Sauce

1

Make the Sauce

In a saucepan, combine prickly pear puree, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and simmer over medium heat for 10-15 minutes until thickened. Set aside.

Cook the Venison Steak

2

Season the Steak

Rub the venison leg steak with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

3

Grill or Sauté

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the venison steak for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached.

4

Serve

Remove the steak from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with the housemade prickly pear BBQ sauce on the side.
