1. Muddle the Sugar
In a mixing glass, place the sugar cube and add the water. Muddle them together until the sugar is mostly dissolved.
2. Add Bitters
Add the Angostura bitters to the muddled sugar mixture and stir gently to combine.
3. Add Templeton Rye
Pour in the Templeton Rye whiskey over the sugar and bitters mixture.
4. Stir
Add ice to the mixing glass and stir the mixture for about 30 seconds until well chilled.
Serving
5. Strain and Serve
Strain the whiskey mixture into a rocks glass filled with ice.
6. Garnish
Garnish the drink with a strip of orange peel and a maraschino cherry.
