Base Gelato / Sorbet Options (choose any three)

Method

Choose and Prepare Bases

  1. 1

    Select three flavors

From the Base Gelato / Sorbet Options section, choose any three flavors you want to serve as your trio. Plan for about 1 cup of each flavor per serving trio (adjust if serving multiple people).

  2. 2

    Soften slightly if needed

Remove each selected gelato or sorbet from the freezer 5–8 minutes before scooping so it softens slightly for clean scoops. Do not let them melt — you want a scoopable consistency.

Scooping & Arranging

  1. 3

    Chill serving bowls

Place the 3 serving bowls or glass cups in the freezer 5–10 minutes ahead to keep the trio cold while assembling.

  2. 4

    Portion the scoops

Use the scooping spoon to portion one generous scoop (about 1/3 to 1/2 cup) of each chosen flavor into each chilled bowl. Arrange the three scoops in a triangular or linear layout so each flavor is visible.

  3. 5

    Smooth or texture

If you want a more refined presentation, use a small warmed spoon (run under hot water and dry) to gently smooth the tops of gelato scoops. For sorbets, keep a slightly textured surface for a fresh look.

Add Mix-ins & Garnishes

  1. 6

    Apply complementary garnishes

Match garnishes to each flavor: sprinkle 1 teaspoon toasted chopped pistachios over pistachio gelato; dust dark chocolate shavings over chocolate; add fresh berries and a tablespoon of fruit coulis to berry or mango sorbet.

  2. 7

    Finish with accents

Add a small pinch (about 1/8 tsp) of citrus zest to vanilla or sorbet scoops that benefit from brightness. Place a fresh mint leaf on one scoop for color and aroma. Scatter 1 tablespoon shortbread cookie crumbs or place a biscotti/wafer against the scoops for texture contrast.

  3. 8

    Optional drizzle

If desired, lightly drizzle up to 1 teaspoon of fruit coulis or 1 teaspoon melted chocolate over the trio — avoid soaking sorbets.

Serve

  1. 9

Serve immediately to maintain scoop shape and texture. Provide a small spoon per guest. If preparing ahead for a short time, return assembled bowls to the freezer for no more than 5–10 minutes; for longer storage, assemble just before serving to preserve presentation and texture.
