Soft Drinks
- 1
Sanitation and prep
Ensure hands are clean and the serving cup is rinsed/clean. Confirm the selected soda (Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Coca Cola Zero Sugar, Barq's Root Beer, Sprite, or Dr Pepper) is chilled. Keep the bottle or can capped/closed until ready to pour.
- 2
Prepare the cup
Place the 12-oz serving cup on a flat surface. Add approximately 0.5 cups of cubed ice to the cup (enough to fill roughly one-third to one-half of the cup). This ice quantity corresponds to one standard 12-oz serving and helps keep the soda cold without overflowing.
- 3
Pouring general technique
Tilt the cup to about 45 degrees and hold the bottle or can about 1–2 cm above the rim. Pour the soda (Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Coca Cola Zero Sugar, Barq's Root Beer, Sprite, or Dr Pepper) slowly down the side of the cup to minimize foam. Aim for a steady pour until the liquid level reaches just below the rim (about 355 ml served into a 12-oz cup).
- 4
Special handling for Barq's Root Beer and other foamy sodas
Barq's Root Beer tends to foam more than colas. Pour slowly in two stages: fill the cup about two-thirds, allow foam to settle for 5–10 seconds, then finish pouring to the desired level. If excessive foam develops, pause and let it subside before continuing.

- 6
Finalize and serve
Insert one drinking straw into the cup (place it at an angle so it does not push ice out). Place one napkin under or alongside the cup. Serve immediately to maintain carbonation and chill.

Offer complimentary refills as appropriate; to refill, repeat the pouring steps over existing ice or replace ice if melted.
