Macaroni and Cheese Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

1

Prepare the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2

Make the Cheese Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the flour and whisk together to form a roux. Cook for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

3

Add Milk and Cheese

Slowly whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook and stir until the mixture thickens. Add the shredded Jarlsberg cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder, stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.

4

Combine Pasta and Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce. Mix well to ensure all pasta is coated with the sauce.

5

Optional Topping

If using, transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle bread crumbs on top. This step adds a crunchy texture.

6

Bake (optional)

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the mac n' cheese for about 20 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.

7

Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious vegetarian mac n' cheese!
