Base Latte

Method

Base Latte

1

Brew coffee

Brew one shot (about 30-45 ml) of espresso or make 60-90 ml of very strong brewed coffee. Set aside.

2

Heat the milk: gently warm 1 cup milk on the stovetop over medium-low heat until steaming but not boiling (about 60–70°C / 140–160°F), or microwave for 45–60 seconds. If making an iced version, skip heating and keep milk cold.

Protein & Flavor

3

Dissolve protein

Place 1 scoop protein powder and 1 tsp sweetener in a heatproof cup or small jar. Add about 2–3 tablespoons of the warmed milk (or cold milk for iced) and whisk or shake vigorously until a smooth slurry forms with no lumps.

4

Combine with remaining milk: pour the rest of the warmed (or cold) milk into the protein slurry, whisking or shaking to fully incorporate. Add 1/4 tsp vanilla extract if using and whisk briefly to combine.

5

Optional mocha: if adding cocoa, whisk 1/2 tsp cocoa powder into the protein slurry along with the milk so it dissolves evenly.

Assembly & Finish

6

Pour the brewed espresso or strong coffee into a serving mug.

7

Slowly pour the protein-enriched milk over the coffee. For a foamy top, froth the combined milk-protein mixture with a milk frother for 10–20 seconds before pouring.

8

Garnish with a light dusting of ground cinnamon or a sprinkle of cocoa powder if desired.

9

Serve immediately. For an iced version: fill a glass with 1/2 cup ice, add the coffee, then pour cold protein-milk mixture over the ice and serve with a straw.
