Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prep the glass (optional)

If you prefer a salted rim, run a lime wedge around the rim of a highball or Collins glass, then dip the rim into a small plate of coarse salt to coat. Fill the glass with ice and set aside.

  2. 2

    Mix tequila, juices, and agave

In a cocktail shaker (or mixing glass) add 2 oz blanco tequila, 3 oz fresh grapefruit juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz agave syrup, and a handful of ice. Seal and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

  3. 3

    Combine and top with soda

Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared ice-filled glass. Top gently with 2 oz club soda (or grapefruit soda if you want it sweeter and more intensely grapefruit-forward). Stir once gently to combine.

  4. 4

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a grapefruit wheel or wedge and a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.

  5. 5

    Notes

Adjust sweetness by increasing or decreasing agave syrup to taste. For a larger batch, maintain the ratio: 2 parts tequila : 3 parts grapefruit juice : 0.5 part lime juice : 0.5 part agave, topped with soda per glass.
