Chicken & Waffles Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

1

Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken thighs and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.

2

Prepare the Chicken Coating

In another bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

3

Fry the Chicken

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade, letting excess buttermilk drip off, and dust lightly with flour. Fry chicken thighs in batches for about 8-10 minutes each, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

4

Make the Waffles

In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed (do not overmix). Preheat waffle maker and cook waffles according to manufacturer's instructions.

5

Assemble the Dish

Place a waffle on a plate, top with a crispy chicken thigh, and drizzle with house syrup as desired. Serve immediately.
