Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Muddle the Sugar

In a mixing glass, add the sugar and Angostura bitters. Muddle them together until the sugar starts to dissolve, creating a thick paste.

  2. 2

    Add the Bourbon

Pour the bourbon into the mixing glass with the muddled sugar and bitters. Stir gently to combine the ingredients.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Glass

Fill a rocks glass with ice cubes. If desired, you can chill the glass beforehand.

  4. 4

    Strain the Mixture

Using a strainer, pour the bourbon mixture over the ice in the rocks glass.

  5. 5

    Garnish

Take the orange slice and twist it over the drink to release its oils. Then, place it in the glass as a garnish.
