Classic Martini Ingredients

Method

Classic Martini Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill the Glass

Begin by chilling your martini glass. Fill it with ice water and set it aside while you prepare the drink.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing glass, add 2 ounces of gin and 1 ounce of dry vermouth. You can adjust the amount of vermouth according to your taste preference.

  3. 3

    Add Ice

Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes to the top. This will help chill the drink while mixing.

  4. 4

    Stir the Mixture

Using a bar spoon or a long spoon, stir the mixture for about 30 seconds. Stirring allows the drink to chill and dilute slightly without shaking, which can introduce air bubbles.

  5. 5

    Strain into Glass

Remove the ice water from the chilled martini glass. Using a strainer, pour the mixed drink into the glass carefully.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Garnish your martini with either an olive or a lemon twist, depending on your preference. If using a lemon twist, twist the peel over the drink to release its oils before placing it in.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve immediately and enjoy your classic martini!
