Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass (optional)

If you prefer a very cold cocktail, place a martini coupe or chilled cocktail glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes prior to preparing the drink.

2

Rinse glass (optional)

Pour 0.25 oz dry vermouth into the chilled glass, swirl to coat the interior, then discard the excess (or keep if you prefer a slightly more herbal vermouth note). This step is optional but enhances aroma.

3

Build and stir

Fill a mixing glass with 6 cubes of ice. Add 2 oz Grey Goose vodka and 0.5 oz dry vermouth. Stir briskly for 20–30 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted (mix should be clear and very cold to the touch).

4

Strain

Using a julep or Hawthorne strainer, strain the chilled cocktail into the prepared chilled coupe or martini glass.

5

Garnish

Thread one blue cheese-stuffed olive onto a cocktail pick and rest it across the rim of the glass. Express the orange peel over the drink to release oils by holding it skin-side down above the glass and giving it a quick twist; then rub the peel around the rim and drop it into the drink or discard, per preference.

6

Serve immediately while cold. Recommend pairing with lightly salted nuts or crisp bread to balance the blue cheese saltiness.
