Method
Prepare
Chill glass
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes or fill with ice water while preparing the cocktail to ensure it’s well chilled.
Make espresso
Pull a fresh shot of espresso (about 1 oz). If using hot espresso, let it rest 20–30 seconds so it’s hot but not scalding; alternatively use 1 oz strong cold-brew concentrate.
Shake & Strain
Add ice to the cocktail shaker so it’s about two-thirds full.
Pour 2 oz vodka, 1 oz freshly pulled espresso (or cold-brew), 1 oz Kahlúa, and 0.25 oz simple syrup into the shaker.
Seal the shaker and dry-shake (no ice) vigorously for 10 seconds if you want extra crema, then add ice and shake hard for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes very cold. This dual shake yields a silky, foamy top.
Discard ice/water from the chilled glass if you used ice water. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled martini/coupe glass using a Hawthorne or fine strainer to catch ice shards and crema debris.
Garnish & Serve
Garnish the surface with three coffee beans arranged in the center (symbolizing health, wealth, and happiness).
Serve immediately while cold and enjoy.
