Cocktail

Method

Prepare & Mix

1

Chill glass

If serving chilled (rocks or coupe), place the serving glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink.

2

Add 2 oz Crown Royal, 0.5 oz Grand Marnier, 1 oz fresh orange juice, 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes orange bitters into a cocktail shaker.

3

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) until roughly three-quarters full.

4

Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosty on the outside. This both chills and lightly dilutes the mix for balance.

Strain & Serve

5

Discard ice water from the chilled glass (if used). Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass over a large ice cube for a stirred/served-on-the-rocks presentation, or double-strain into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass for a neat presentation.

6

Express the orange peel over the surface of the drink by holding it skin-side down and giving it a firm twist to release the oils, then rub the peel along the rim and drop it into the drink.

7

Optional: garnish with a candied orange wheel or a long orange twist on the rim for visual appeal.

8

Serve immediately.
