Method
Prep & Muddle
Muddle basil
In a cocktail shaker, add 4 fresh basil leaves and the ginger syrup (0.5 oz). Gently muddle the basil with the syrup to release the aromatic oils — just a few presses, avoid over-muddling to prevent bitterness.
Add citrus and spirits
Add 2 oz Rocktown Basil Vodka and 1 oz fresh lemon juice to the shaker. If you prefer a slightly sweeter cocktail, add 0.25 oz simple syrup now.
Shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup), secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well chilled (the outside of the shaker should become frosty).
Strain & Finish
Prepare glass
Fill a chilled coupe or a rocks glass with crushed ice or ice cubes (about 1 cup) if serving on the rocks; for a drier, bubbly presentation use a chilled coupe with no ice.
Double strain
Double-strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass to remove basil bits and ice shards. Use a fine strainer in addition to the shaker strainer if possible.
Top with La Marca
Gently top the cocktail with 2 oz La Marca Prosecco (or other dry sparkling wine). Pour slowly to preserve bubbles and to create a light layered effect.
Serve
Serve immediately while the Prosecco is effervescent. Provide a stirrer if the guest prefers to mix before drinking.
