Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Combine ingredients

Fill a mixing glass with the specified mixing ice. Add 1 oz Tanqueray gin, 1 oz Italicus, 1 oz Lillet Rosé and 2 dashes of orange bitters to the mixing glass.

2

Stir to chill and dilute

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full revolutions) until well chilled and slightly diluted. The mixing glass should feel very cold to the touch and the outside lightly frosted.

3

Prepare serving glass

Place a single large ice cube or sphere into a chilled rocks glass.

4

Strain

Double-strain the chilled cocktail from the mixing glass into the rocks glass over the large ice cube using a julep or fine strainer to catch any small shards of ice.

Garnish & Finish

5

Express orange oils

Take one 1-piece orange peel and hold it with the outside (zest) facing down about 3–4 inches above the drink. Firmly but briefly squeeze and bend the peel away from the drink to express the citrus oils across the surface of the cocktail. Rotate the peel to coat the rim lightly.

6

Garnish

Optionally run the peel around the glass rim and drop it into the drink or rest it on the cube as a decorative twist. Serve immediately.
