Muffuletta Ingredients

Method

Muffuletta Preparation

1

Prepare the Olive Salad

In a bowl, combine the mixed olives, pickled vegetables, and olive oil. Add salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well and set aside.

2

Slice the Bread

Cut the Italian bread in half horizontally, creating a top and bottom half. If desired, hollow out some of the bread from the inside to make more room for the fillings.

3

Layer the Meats and Cheese

On the bottom half of the bread, layer the mortadella, salami, ham, and provolone cheese. Make sure to distribute the meats and cheese evenly.

4

Add the Olive Salad

Spread the prepared olive salad over the layered meats and cheese, ensuring it covers them evenly.

5

Add Fresh Basil

Sprinkle fresh basil leaves on top of the olive salad.

6

Finish the Sandwich

Drizzle extra virgin olive oil over the top half of the bread, then place it on top of the sandwich. Press down gently.

7

Serve

Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and let it sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Cut into wedges to serve.
