Tulipano Cocktail

Method

Tulipano Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker add 2 oz gin, 0.5 oz St. Germain elderflower liqueur, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 1 oz white cranberry juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, 2 dashes orange bitters and 0.5 of an egg white (if using).

  3. 3

    Dry shake

If using egg white: seal the shaker and shake vigorously without ice for 10–15 seconds to emulsify and create foam.

  4. 4

    Wet shake

Add a generous handful of ice (about 1 cup) to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the exterior has a light frost.

  5. 5

    Double strain

Discard the ice from the chilled glass. Strain the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer (and the shaker's strainer) into the chilled coupe or martini glass to remove small ice shards and any solids, ensuring a silky texture and clear presentation.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Express a lemon twist over the drink (squeeze and rub the peel around the rim) and discard or place the twist on the rim. Float a single edible flower petal or a small edible blossom gently on the foam or surface of the cocktail.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve immediately while cold. Advise guests about the egg white if used.
