Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Salmon
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. This helps achieve a perfect sear. Season both sides of the salmon fillets with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers. Make sure the skillet is hot enough to sear the salmon, but not smoking.
Cooking
- 3
Sear the Salmon
Carefully place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes without moving them, allowing a crust to form.
- 4
Flip the Salmon
Using a spatula, gently flip the salmon fillets over and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
Serving
- 5
Plate the Salmon
Transfer the seared salmon fillets to serving plates. Optionally, serve with lemon wedges and sprinkle with fresh dill or parsley for added flavor.
