Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and scrub the Russet potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. Pat them dry with a clean towel.

2

Cut the Potatoes

Slice each potato into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick. Try to keep the size uniform for even cooking.

3

Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl filled with cold water. Soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps achieve crispiness.

Cooking

4

Heat the Oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

5

Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

6

Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a handful of dried potato strips to the hot oil, being cautious not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until they turn golden brown, stirring occasionally.

7

Remove and Drain

Once the fries are golden and crispy, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

8

Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle with salt, ground black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste. Toss gently to ensure even coating.
