Dough & Assembly
Preheat and Prepare
Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone or inverted baking sheet on the middle rack for at least 30 minutes. Lightly dust a pizza peel or sheet with the all-purpose flour. Stretch or roll the pizza dough into a roughly 12-inch circle on the floured surface, leaving a slightly thicker edge for the crust. Transfer the stretched dough to the peel or prepared sheet.
Brush the outer 1/2-inch of the dough lightly with 1 tablespoon olive oil to promote browning.
Sweet Tomato Sauce
Make Quick Sweet Tomato Sauce
In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, warm 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 20–30 seconds (do not brown). Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and sugar. Stir to combine and simmer gently for 6–8 minutes until slightly thickened. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Remove from heat and let cool 2–3 minutes.
Spread Sauce
Using the back of a spoon, spread about 3/4 cup of the warm sweet tomato sauce in an even layer over the stretched dough, leaving the oiled rim exposed.
Toppings
Arrange Cheese and Salami
Distribute the 8 oz torn or sliced whole milk mozzarella evenly over the sauced dough so the cheese covers most of the surface but still allows some sauce to peek through. Fold or slightly overlap spicy salami slices and place them evenly on top of the cheese. If you prefer extra heat, lightly scatter up to 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes over the top.
Drizzle Hot Oil
Lightly drizzle 1 tablespoon hot chili oil in a few thin streams across the pizza to infuse extra heat and flavor; avoid soaking the crust edge.
Bake
Slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or inverted baking sheet and bake at 500°F (260°C) for 7–10 minutes, rotating halfway through, until the crust is blistered and golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Rest
Remove pizza from oven and let rest on a rack or cutting board for 2–3 minutes so the cheese sets slightly before finishing.
Hot Honey Drizzle & Finish
Prepare Hot Honey
While the pizza bakes (or immediately after removing it), warm 3 tablespoons honey in a small microwave-safe bowl or small saucepan until thin and pourable (about 10–15 seconds in microwave or 30 seconds on low heat). Stir in 1 teaspoon crushed red chili flakes and 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice) to loosen and balance sweetness. Taste and adjust: add more chili flakes for heat or more vinegar for brightness. Let the hot honey sit 30 seconds so the chili infuses.
Finish Pizza
Drizzle the hot honey evenly over the baked pizza in a thin stream to your taste (start with half, add more if desired). Scatter fresh basil leaves over the pizza. If you like, finish with an extra light drizzle of chili oil or a pinch more crushed red pepper flakes. Slice and serve immediately.
