Cocktail

Method

Prep

1

Chill glass

If desired, place a rocks glass or coupe in the freezer for 5–10 minutes to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Prepare rim (optional)

Rub the lime wedge around the rim of your glass. Dip the wet rim into coarse salt or cinnamon-sugar mix to coat. Set the glass aside.

Mixing

3

Add 2 oz reposado tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 0.25 oz Grand Marnier into a cocktail shaker.

4

Fill the shaker with ice (enough to come up near the top) and secure the lid.

5

Shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the exterior shows light frost. This both chills and dilutes the drink to balance the flavors.

Serve

6

If using a chilled glass, remove it from the freezer. Strain the cocktail over fresh ice into the prepared rocks glass (or double-strain into the chilled coupe for a clearer presentation).

7

Float an extra 0.25 oz (bar spoon) of Grand Marnier on top if you prefer a more pronounced orange aroma: pour slowly over the back of a spoon so it sits on the surface.

8

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
