Whiskey & Pour

Method

Whiskey & Pour

1

Standard neat or on the rocks

Place a single large ice cube or sphere in a rocks glass if you prefer chilled. Pour 2 oz High West American Prairie Bourbon over the ice (or into a room-temperature glass for neat). Let rest 30–60 seconds to open the spirit before drinking.

2

With controlled dilution

If you prefer a touch of dilution, add 0.5 oz chilled water to the 2 oz bourbon and stir gently for 10–15 seconds (if ice is present, stir with the ice until the glass chills, about 15–20 seconds). This helps open aromatics and mellow alcohol heat.

Aromatic finishing & optional modifications

3

Orange oil express

Express the orange peel over the glass: hold the peel with the outside facing down about 2–3 inches above the drink, give it a sharp fold to spray oils across the surface, then rub the peel on the rim and drop it into the glass.

4

Bitters and sweetness (optional)

For a slightly more cocktail-like profile, add 1 dash Angostura bitters and 0.25 tsp simple syrup to the bourbon. Stir gently 10–15 seconds to combine and chill with a large cube, then garnish with the orange peel.

5

Savoring

Sip slowly, allowing the bourbon's rye-forward spice and corn sweetness to develop. If the drink feels hot, add a few drops more chilled water and swirl to integrate.
