Cold Brew Concentrate
To Serve (12 oz / ~355 ml)
Method
Cold Brew Concentrate
- 1
Combine coffee and water
In a clean 1.2–1.5 L container or jar, add 85 g coarsely ground coffee. Pour 1,000 ml cold, filtered water over the grounds ensuring all grounds are saturated. Stir gently for 20–30 seconds to make sure there are no dry pockets.
- 2
Steep
Cover the container loosely with a lid or plastic wrap. Let the coffee steep at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 16 to 20 hours. Steep 16 hours for a milder concentrate, up to 20 hours for a stronger, darker concentrate.
- 3
Filter
After steeping, strain the concentrate through a fine mesh sieve lined with a coffee filter, double layer of cheesecloth, or Nut milk bag into a clean container. Allow it to drip without pressing to avoid extracting bitterness. This will yield roughly 900–1000 ml of concentrate.
- 4
Store
Seal the container and refrigerate the cold brew concentrate. It will keep chilled for up to 10–14 days; best within the first 7 days.
