Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Mix

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add vodka (2 oz), pineapple juice (2 oz), crème de cassis (0.5 oz), fresh lemon juice (0.5 oz), and simple syrup (0.25 oz) if you prefer a slightly sweeter drink.

  2. 2

    Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds, until the shaker is cold to the touch and the mixture is well chilled and slightly frothy.

Finish & Garnish

  1. 3

    Strain

Strain the chilled mixture into a chilled Collins or highball glass filled with fresh ice (about 3/4 full).

  2. 4

    Top with bubbles

Gently top the drink with 2 oz chilled sparkling wine or soda. Pour slowly over the back of a spoon or down the inside of the glass to preserve effervescence and create a layered effect with the cassis.

  3. 5

    Garnish & Serve

Express a lemon twist over the drink and drop it in, or add a lemon wheel on the rim. Optionally add a small pineapple wedge or leaf. Serve immediately with a stirrer or straw so the guest can blend the flavors if desired.
