Preparation Directions

1

Prepare the Caramel Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 cup of sugar until it turns a golden brown color, stirring constantly to prevent burning. Once melted, pour the caramel into a round flan mold or individual ramekins, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.

2

Make the Flan Mixture

In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and well mixed.

3

Combine and Bake

Pour the flan mixture over the set caramel in the mold. Place the mold in a larger baking dish and fill the baking dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan mold. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 60 minutes, or until the flan is set.

4

Cool and Serve

Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan mold, invert onto a serving platter, and enjoy with whipped cream on the side.
