Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cut the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized fries, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). You can use a thermometer to check the temperature.

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the soaked and drained fries to the hot oil in batches. Fry them for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with Old Bay seasoning and salt to taste. Toss to coat evenly.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the Old Bay fries hot, either as a side dish or a snack. Enjoy!
