Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- 2
Combine Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, mozzarella cheese (diced), pecorino cheese (grated), bread crumbs, egg, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
- 3
Form Meatballs
Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a golf ball, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 4
Drizzle with Olive Oil
Drizzle olive oil over the meatballs to ensure they become crispy while baking.
- 5
Bake Meatballs
Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Tomato Sauce Preparation
- 6
Heat Olive Oil
In a saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.
- 7
Sauté Garlic
Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, salt, black pepper, fresh basil, and sugar. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
- 9
Simmer Sauce
Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
