Combine Ingredients
In a shaker, add 2 oz aged rum, 0.5 oz overproof rum, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz fresh grapefruit juice, 0.5 oz honey syrup, 0.5 oz falernum, 0.25 oz allspice dram, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, and 1 dash tiki or orange bitters (if using).
Dry Shake (optional)
For a silkier texture and better integration of honey syrup, dry shake (without ice) for 8–10 seconds.
Shake with Ice
Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.
Prepare Glass
Fill a double Old Fashioned or a large tiki/rocks glass 3/4 full with crushed or cracked ice.
Strain & Build
Double-strain the cocktail over the prepared crushed ice. If you prefer a layered look, pour slowly so the darker rum floats slightly on top.
Garnish & Finish
Top the drink with a small mound of crushed ice so the garnish sits atop the drink.
Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim and a light dusting of grated nutmeg or ground allspice over the top for aroma.
If using, slap a mint sprig between your hands to release aromatics and tuck it into the top of the crushed ice. For dramatic flair, express an orange or pineapple peel over the surface and briefly flame it (carefully) before dropping it in.
Serve immediately with a short straw. Advise guests to stir slightly before sipping so the stronger overproof rum integrates with the rest of the cocktail.
