Falafel Ingredients

Method

Falafel Preparation

1

Soak the Chickpeas

Place dried chickpeas in a bowl, cover with water, and soak overnight for at least 8 hours.

2

Make the Falafel Mixture

Drain and rinse the soaked chickpeas. In a food processor, combine soaked chickpeas, parsley, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until a coarse mixture forms, scraping down the sides as needed.

3

Form the Falafel Balls

Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add flour. Mix well. Using your hands, form small balls or patties, about 1.5 inches in diameter.

4

Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5

Fry the Falafel

Carefully add falafel balls to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

6

Serve

Serve hot with pita bread, tahini sauce, or your favorite dip.
