Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink to thoroughly chill the glass.

2

Measure and combine

Add 2 oz vodka, 0.75 oz lychee liqueur (or lychee-flavored syrup), 0.5 oz lychee syrup (from the canned lychees) and 0.5 oz freshly squeezed lime juice into a cocktail shaker.

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) to near the top. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold and the exterior becomes frosty. This both chills and slightly dilutes the cocktail for balance.

4

Strain

Empty the ice water from the chilled glass if used. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled martini or coupe glass using the shaker strainer (and a fine strainer if you used fresh juice with pulp) to ensure a silky texture.

Garnish

5

Thread the peeled, pitted lychee onto a cocktail pick and rest it on the rim or drop it into the center of the glass. If using a lime twist, express the oils over the drink by holding the twist over the glass and pinching it, then drop or rest the twist on the rim.

Serve

6

Serve immediately while very cold. Optionally, present with a small spoon for the lychee garnish. Enjoy responsibly.
