1

Prepare glass

Fill a highball or Collins glass with large ice cubes or crushed ice until nearly full. Chilling the glass first is optional but recommended.

2

Add gin and lime

Pour 2 oz gin over the ice, then add 1/2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice. If you prefer a slightly sweeter Rickey, add 1/4 oz simple syrup. The classic recipe is often unsweetened; the syrup is optional.

3

Top with soda

Slowly top the glass with about 4 oz chilled club soda (adjust to taste). Pour gently to retain carbonation.

4

Stir gently

Give the drink one or two gentle short stirs with a bar spoon to integrate gin and lime without flattening the soda.

5

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim or floated in the drink. Serve immediately with a straw or stirring rod.
