Prepare glass (optional)
If you prefer a rimmed glass, rub the lime wedge around the rim of a chilled cocktail or rocks glass, then dip the rim into coarse salt or sugar placed on a small plate. Set the glass aside.
Measure and add ingredients
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Pour in 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz triple sec, and 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice.
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the shaker is cold and a light frost forms on the outside.
Strain and serve
Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice (for a rocks serving) or into a chilled cocktail glass without ice for a straight-up presentation.
Garnish
Garnish with the lime wedge on the rim or floated in the drink. Serve immediately.
