Cocktail

Method

Prepare Glass

1

Salt the rim

Place the coarse salt on a small plate. Take the lime wedge and run it around the outer rim of a chilled rocks or margarita glass to moisten. Dip the moistened rim into the salt, twisting to coat evenly. Set the glass aside to let the rim set while you make the cocktail.

Mix Cocktail

2

Fill a cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with ice (approximately 1 cup).

3

Add 2 oz Hornitos Reposado tequila to the shaker.

4

Add 1 oz Cointreau to the shaker.

5

Add 2 oz house sour mix (see note) to the shaker.

6

Add 1/2 oz fresh orange juice to the shaker for a bright orange note and a hint of sweetness.

7

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is very cold and the liquid is well chilled and slightly diluted.

8

Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice (optional). Strain the shaken cocktail into the prepared glass over ice or serve neat in the salted-rim glass per preference.

9

Garnish with an orange wheel or a twisted strip of orange peel perched on the rim. Optionally squeeze the rim garnish lightly over the drink for extra aroma.

Serve

10

Present immediately while cold. Encourage guests to sip and enjoy the interplay of salty rim, tequila warmth, orange liqueur, citrus sourness, and the orange juice finish.
