Method
Mixing
Build the drink
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice (about 1 cup). Add 2 oz Stoli Vanil and 4 oz pineapple juice to the shaker.
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and well-chilled.
Prepare glass
Fill a highball or Collins glass with fresh ice (about 4–6 oz by volume).
Strain and layer
Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over the ice, leaving a little headspace at the top (about 1/2 inch).
Add grenadine
Slowly pour 0.25 oz (about 1/2 tablespoon) grenadine down the inside edge or center of the drink so it sinks and creates the signature 'upside-down' gradient from red at the bottom to yellow at the top.
Garnish & Serve
Garnish the rim or float a pineapple wedge on the rim and drop a maraschino cherry into the drink. Optionally give the garnish a light squeeze over the glass to release a little pineapple aroma.
